The Human Race is a nationwide community fundraising event for nonprofit organizations. The Sonoma
County Race features a 3K and 10K run and walk through Howarth and Spring Lake Parks. Organizations and businesses recruit
walkers/ runners/ pledge-gatherers to raise funds.
Participating nonprofit organizations receive 75% of the monies collected and the Volunteer Center receives
the remaining percentage to coordinate and stage the event. In 2004, Sonoma County held the largest Human Race in California
for the fifteenth year with over 8,000 participants and over $1,039,000 raised.
